Are you a classic or trendy bride?
Do you consider yourself a classic bell of the ball or a trend setting fashionista? Maybe you fall somewhere inbetween. In today's world of weddings as 'themed soirees' ... here's a new twist on an old idea ... perhaps classic has become the trend! Ahh ha :) Well you can never go wrong with core classic pieces and a non-themed wedding. You won't get tired of looking at the accesories, decor and lack of one hit wonders.
The Whimsy Scroll invitation suite by Plain Jane is a classic piece that you can rely on to set the tone for your classic non-themed yet still very trendy wedding.

The Emily Wedding Collection
If you're a bride who loves a neutral palate, but wants to dress it up to the nines ... check out this gorgeous design from Whitney English (found HERE). The Emily design has so many pieces that really help you form a style and motif for your special day. It comes in an array of color options, but the gold is my favorite for a simple, elegant, neutral color scheme.
Collection Pieces include:
Invitation, Small Card (perfect for accomodations, RSV and directions), notecards, return address labels, Notesheets & Clipboards, Stickers & Labels, Calling Cards.

Engagement Party ~ Time to Celebrate!
Engagement parties can be a great way to announce and celebrate your upcoming nuptuals!
Whether you are the bride + groom, maid of honor, or the parents ... should you have an engagement party? Keep reading to hear the pro's and con's given by Nina Callaway. Full article HERE.
And should you choose to throw an engagement party, please shop the great selection from PaperConcierge.
Pros:
- Announces your engagement to your closest friends + family in a fun and creative way.
- Great way for friends, family + bridal party to get to know each other.
- Any excuse for a party is a good one!
Cons:
- This process forces you to have a sense of your wedding guest list early. You can't invite someone to the engagement party, who won't be invited to the wedding.
- It's an extra event to plan and pay for.
- If you don't have a very long engagement, then it could feel cramped with your other parties/showers so close.

Bridal Shower - Going to the Chapel
I had the pleasure of co-hostessing a bridal shower for a coworker/friend. Ashley & Ryan were planning a wedding Viva Las Vegas style! The week before their trip to sin city, our office surprised Ashley with a Going to the Chapel themed shower. It turned out awesome, and so much fun!
The shower was full of Vegas fun, complete with monogrammed cupcakes & a custom cupcake tower (courtesy of my create co-hostess), and tables decked out with cards, dice and poker chips. The red, white and black motif worked so well. And I loved the invitation I did to set the theme from the start.

Monograms
I love what Inviting Company has to say about the ever-so-classic monogram! So true.
"Monograms are timeless, rich in history and add a classic touch to almost everything. Originally monograms were used as Royal Signatures, and seen as a reflection of one’s status. As popularity increased, monograms could be seen anywhere from stationery to bed linens. Traditionally, a 3 letter monogram for a woman would use the first letter of the first name on the left, her last name in the center and her middle name on the right. When she married, she would continue to use the 3 letter monogram on items in “her” domain.
Today, designer monograms appear everywhere; handbags, ties, scarves, wallets, etc., but the beauty of a personal monogram is that it is, personal. It reflects you and your family, and can add the perfect personal touch to your wedding. Combining the Bride & Groom’s initials in a monogram signifies union, and the start of a new family. Your personal monogram can be used on the stationary, dinnerware, napkins, and on the favors. It’s a great way to tie several different aspects of your wedding back to one theme.
Once you have tied the knot, your personal monogram can become even more meaningful when used in a nursery. It can become a gorgeous piece of art hung over the crib, or appliqued on pillows."

Parasols
I was going to write a post strictly about parasols, but in researching I discovered the awesome talent of Kristin from I Do Originals! If I had found this site when I was wedding planning, I would have surely been her biggest customer! I'm a huge lover of monograms and adding that perfect mix of personalized style to your big day.
This site specializes in hand painted accessories and includes items like Parasols, Aisle Runners, Unity Candles, Table Runners, Monogram Design, and more.
idooriginals.com was just featured in the August issue of Brides Magazine for a feature on "100 Wedding Upgrades for $100), and also seen in lots of other publications too. Check out her website; you're sure to spend a good bit of time perusing all the eye candy!
I love this idea as a photo prop & bridesmaid gift!

Miss Manners
Crane’s Blue Book of Stationery: The styles definitive guide to social and business correspondence etiquette
My love of stationery began when I began a part-time job at a small paper boutique in Charlotte, NC. As a bride to be, I had an interest in invitations and wedding related accessories. The store owner gave me a copy of this book. It’s been an excellent reference when I’ve created invitations for myself and friends. Beautiful stationery deserves beautiful words, and those receiving your letters and invitations will understand the consideration you put into your correspondence. Email, texting, facebooking, IM’ing … it’s had a big impact on our communication. So when you’re at a loss for how to articulate your words, ask yourself “what would Crane say?” and check out this book. Or you can come ask me and I’ll be happy to look it up for you! I might have to also read the 17th edition of Emily Post’s Etiquette and Eleanor Roosevelt's Book of Common Sense Etiquette.
“In the midst of this fast-paced and often impersonal world of digital technology where messages disappear almost as soon as they are delivered, the arrival in your mailbox of a finely engraved invitation or a personal note on elegant, timeless stationery has greater impact than ever before.” – Crane’s Blue Book of Stationery
